How This 8 Minute Treatment is Making Sex More Enjoyable Again.

Suzan Bekir

I think most women are understandably reluctant when it comes to opening up their legs for medical procedures. Agree?

I think most women would also agree, that opening up our hearts, if one has the courage to Doctors, desperate for more enjoyable sex in the bedroom is generally an awkward conversation, anyway.

Its not easy to get women comfortable to talk about the real reason why they have become sex avoidant. Explaining the aftermath of urinary infections or cuts that don't heal, why you find the shape change embarrassing or how it is dry, roomy, leaky, stingy or itchy is just as uncomfortable for women to talk about as it is you reading it.

I wonder how many women secretly pray that their legitimate concerns won't  be trivialised, flippantly dismissed or redirected to safer grounds - let's check your hormones with a blood test, perhaps?

I also wonder how many women end up disappointed in how limited their options are if they complain of uncomfortable sex or god-forbid the vanity of an out-of-shape vagina - Perhaps some Topical Estrogen Cream may help, take this script?

Apart from Hormone Replacement Therapy (which has an important role) or Gyni Surgery (equally important role) there are no little-blue-pill equivalents of a Magic Pill to assist women maintain their sexual peak or increase vaginal traffic.

While it is true hormones can be responsible for unsatisfying sex, intra-vaginal laser treatments now offered by MORE Sydney GP's, is shining hope that hormones aren’t the ONLY way to fix unsatisfying sex for women!! 🙏 In fact, the studies are simply backing what I am seeing - it's reactivating sex lives: getting men back for more and women happier!

This is especially good news for those women who can’t use hormones anyway because of previous Breast Cancer or are considered high risk for developing Breast Cancer. For these women, asking about any NEW non-drug treatments available to improve their sex life, is in my opinion especially deserving of a conversation with their Doctor.  YES, sex is unashamedly an important part of our lives + a legitimate consultation conversation at ANY adult age. Full Stop.

Dry vaginas, painful intercourse, frequent urination and vaginal laxity are just some of the common symptoms many women experience preventing them from continuing to enjoy sex in the bedroom which are now being treated by intra-vaginal lasers.

Unfortunately unsatisfying sex is non-discriminatory, it can silently steal the sex lives of peri-menopausal, menopausal or those forced into menopausal states just as it can those breast-feeding or post-partum mums.

Of course this can be due NATURALLY from drying of the vagina due to menopause or low oestrogen states. For others, it’s unsatisfying because it just feels "looser". Vaginal laxity often being a dissatisfying reminder of vaginal delivery.

Firstly, how effective are female-intimate lasers in giving women their sexy backin the bedroom? Let’s look at some evidence.

One study of 48 post menopausal women with vulvu-vaginal symptoms of dryness, burning, itching and pain showed that overall after 3 treatments, 91.7% of patients were satisfied or very satisfied with the procedure and experienced considerable improvement in quality of life as reported by QOL scales. (5) Another showing 93% satisfed with the procedure and in almost all cases of breast cancer patients in this 2016 study resulted in a significant regression of their VulvoVaginal atrophy (12). 100% of women in this small study complaining of painful sex improved (2) and in a larger study 84% experienced significant improvements after the Co2 laser. (21)

Surely these are numbers that can no longer be ignored.

The fear of never being able to have your vagina return to sexual peak, is fast disappearing! Making me excited again that finally the Fear Factor about intra-vagina lasers is coming to an end.

The good news is that women are finally talking more helping dissolve the stigma about a laser inside your vagina - ambassadors likening the experience to a vibrating pap smear has undoubtedly conjured curiosity amongst women.

Vaginal rejuvenation is no gimmick. This FDA-approved treatment for atrophic vaginitis (dry vagina) has now gone beyond just preliminary studies ensuring its safety and efficacy. With now a growing collection of peer-reviewed scientific papers (1-23) for using Co2 microablative fractional laser for further indications like restoring vaginal flora, improving overactive bladder symptoms, stress incontinence symptoms (18,20,21), treatment of vulvar lichen sclerosis (17) and even vulvodynia (16)!

Just like how Robotics is manoeuvring science into new places and smaller cameras are taking endoscopic surveillance into new spaces, harnessing the precision and power of laser light is shining new hope for the future of V-JAYJAY's.

I believe we are entering an era of delivering more non-surgical, non-drug options with laser + light therapies than ever before. This is good news for ladies, who will be able to comfortably access more treatment options for sexual health  with their GP.

Curious pussy cats may wonder exactly how this 8 minutes painless laser treatment makes you enjoy sex again. Let’s talk science.

Co2 Fractional Micro Ablative laser technology is delivered 360 degrees intra-vaginally. This type of surgical-grade laser packs a powerful energetic punch to the lining of the vagina stimulating a remarkable transformation, documented so beautifully by histology.

It’s phenomenal how this lightning strike of energy can reawaken fibroblasts to thicken the vaginal matrix with collagen all the while more blood vessels grow; richly sustaining the refreshed vaginal lining.

However if microscopic proof doesn’t fascinate you, what’s more remarkable is what women say about the treatment. Although testimonials are banned in medicine, fortunately citing clinic trial results are not!

In one study of 77 post-menopausal women undergoing intra-vagina laser treatment, sexual satisfaction scores clearly improved. (4) Using Female Sexual Function Index (FSFI) and visual analogue scales women described a definite increase in overall satisfaction (p<0.001). In fact, 85% of women reported they had regained a normal sexual life (who were previously NOT sexually active) (4).

Seriously wow! That’s a lot of women no longer avoiding sex.  And that’s definitely MORE sex!

With satisfaction that lasts. A 2017 of 87 post menopausal women showed even 15 months after treatment, their symptoms remained improved. (22)

For sceptics, there are still not enough studies, but from these (1 to 23) the consistent theme is that intra-vaginal laser treatments give women a chance of re-igniting their sex lives! This treatment appears to be getting women back to their considered “normal.”

From Sahara-Desert-to-Wetlands vaginal transformations are removing female expiry dates and revolutionising women’s sex lives forever.

Don’t you think giving women their sexy back (and having men wanting MORE!)  is dare I say it, pretty damn sexy!!
